Stroll had qualified P14 for the race in Barcelona, a good effort from the Canadian driver, that would however prove to be unfruitful as he would not make the grid on Sunday due to his 2023 wrist fracture still giving him a few aches and pains. Due to the fact that he'd taken part in qualifying it
left Aston Martin's hands tied as they could not call upon a replacement to take Stroll's drive, forcing the team to field only one car for the Grand Prix.
Yesterday, the surgery took place at the Quirón Dexeus hospital in Barcelona. The operation was carried out by Dr. Xavier Mir, the same doctor that operated on Stroll after his 2023 bike crash. Mir has assisted various MotoGP riders, as well as Daniel Ricciardo when he broke his wrist at Zandvoort at Turn 4 during FP2. Whether he will recover in time to take part in the
Canadian Grand Prix race weekend, it is not yet known.
