Kimi Antonelli triggered the first red flag of the day during the final testing session at the Bahrain International Circuit.
The Mercedes driver, who was on a push lap, appeared to lose energy deployment, with what looked like a reliability issue affecting the Mercedes engine.
At the time of the problem, the young Italian had completed 49 laps, posting a best time of 1:33.916 – just over two tenths off the benchmark set by Charles Leclerc.

The Silver Arrow was eventually recovered by the marshals, with Antonelli stepping out and walking back to the garage.
