Franco Colapinto experienced an 'incident' during the Pirelli test on Wednesday morning, his team Alpine reports. On the spot, the Argentine was medically examined and found to be okay.
What exactly happened is still unclear. His team says that something occurred in turn eleven at the Hungaroring. When asked, Alpine told GPblog that there is currently no comment on whether the test will go ahead for the French team.
Pierre Gasly, Colapinto’s teammate, is at the circuit for what is known as a Test of a Previous Car (TPC). The French driver is driving the A523, Alpine’s 2023 car. This test is unrelated to the Pirelli tyre test.
Alpine is one of three teams taking part in this week’s Pirelli tyre test. The test is being held at the same circuit that hosted the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend. On Tuesday, Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) and Paul Aron (Alpine) took part. On Wednesday, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and both Alpine drivers are scheduled to be in action.
Here are the first images of the crash.
