Pierre Gasly has signed a contract extension with Alpine to prolongue his stay at the Enstone-based outfit until the 2028 season, the French team has announced.

Pierre Gasly having joined Alpine in 2023, has collected several successes in his third season racing for the French team, with his 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and 2024 Brazil Grand Prix podium finishes as highlights of his tenure there.

As of next season Alpine has made the decision to drop its own factory-built power units to instead be powered by Mercedes engines as of the 2026 season, in a bid to return the team to the top of Formula One.

Today Alpine has announced the French driver's contract extension, showing a reciprocated faith from both sides when looking ahead to the future.

In an Alpine press release, Gasly has reacted to the news of his long term committment to the team led by executive advisor Flavio Briatore.

“I'm thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, makes me feel very proud.

"Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future.

"Flavio's [Briatore] support and belief in me, François' [Provost] commitment to the Formula One project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision and I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and world championships.

"We're all in this together and I look forward to continuing this special story,” he stated.

Briatore reaffirms Gasly's role as lead driver for Alpine

The decision to continue onward with Gasly, can only be translated as faith and satsifaction from the top brass of the French team. Briatore dubs Gasly as the team's lead driver who will 'bring them well into the future.'

“Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula One Team.

"We're well prepared for the new era of Formula One, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future.

"Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time," he concluded.
