Red Bull junior driver Josep Maria “Pepe” Martí has completed a surprise move to Formula E, signing with Cupra Kiro for the 2025/26 season.

The 20-year-old Spaniard, who has been racing for Campos Racing in Formula 2 this year, next to fellow Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad, will partner Dan Ticktum at the all-electric outfit, completing the final driver lineup ahead of pre-season testing next week in Valencia, in a move that GPblog reported could be possible just last week.

For Marti the move marks a new chapter in his career, making the decision to abandon the path leading up to Formula One. A decision perhaps influenced by the myriad of F2 graduated talents who've failed to make their way into the series.

Martí currently sits sixth in the F2 standings with three wins in 2025. But by taking the Formula E seat vacated by David Beckmann, he effectively ends his F2 title bid, since the São Paulo E-Prix will clash with the F2 finale in Abu Dhabi on December 6–7.

It’s a decision Marti is clearly embracing.

He said: “I’m very excited to join CUPRA KIRO for the 2025/26 Formula E season It’ll be my first time racing in the category, so I’ll be a rookie, but I’m looking forward to it.

"The team is coming off a win in Jakarta, and I feel really motivated to get this new chapter started.

"With Dan [Ticktum] as my teammate, I’ll have a lot to learn early on, but my goal is to get up to speed, improve quickly, score points, and hopefully bring home a couple of strong results.”

Marti becomes the latest F2 talent to make the leap to Formula E, following in the footsteps of Zane Maloney and Taylor Barnard, who made similar switches at the end of 2024.
