Dan Ticktum expects Christian Horner to take on a prominent role somewhere, sometime in the future. In conversation with GPBlog, the former Red Bull junior also expressed his doubts about whether Horner was truly informed of his dismissal at the very last minute.
Christian Horner’s departure from Red Bull sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 world. After leading the Austrian team for more than twenty years, he was suddenly shown the door overnight. It was reported that Horner himself only learned of the decision the evening before the public announcement - but was that really the case?
Former Red Bull junior Dan Ticktum, who is currently racing in Formula E, has his doubts about it. "I don't know," Ticktum said in an exclusive interview with GPblog.
''I just don't believe anything I read in the media about it. You know, Formula 1 is such a sass pit of rumours and crap, so unless you hear it from both parties - or all parties face to face - I don't read any of it.''
'Yes, it's been a drama, sacked with immediate effect. Do I think they would have not told him at all?'' he wondered.
''I know Helmut Marko has got a reputation for dropping drivers like that'',- he laughed - "so it's not impossible."
As for the future of the former Red Bull team boss, Ticktum is clear: ''He's achieved a lot in his time. He's done some pretty incredible things. So, I would say he'll be in a prominent role somewhere else next, but we'll see.''
