Campos Racing driver, and Red Bull junior, Arvid Lindblad, saw his feature race in Monza meet an early end following two crashes - as the focus shifted on his F1 future.
After taking P2 during Saturday's Sprint race, Lindblad's Sunday was one to quickly put behind him after he took out several rivals as well as himself during the Feature race.
On Sunday Lindblad misjudged his braking point and ran straight into the back of McLaren junior Alex Dunne, who suffered a heavy impact against the guard rail. It was a costly blow to the McLaren driver, as his DNF caused him to lose points in the Formula 2 title race.
After marshals recovered Dunne's stricken car, and the race action was resumed, Lindblad was then involved in yet another collision. The British youngster crashed into Roman Stanek, leaving both the Czech driver as well as himself out of contention.
GPblog witnessed Lindblad entering the Rodin garage to see Dunne and Invicta Racing's garage to speak to Stanek to explain what had happened and extend apologies to both sides.
GPblog asked the Briton as to what had gone wrong in both incidents. Lindblad decided against answering, although he did indicate that in the second incident his front wing had become dislodged and went under his car, leaving him unable to prevent the crash with Stanek. That potentially was a result of his earlier crash with Dunne, although he did not clarify if that was indeed the case.
The scruffy race weekend in Italy could not come at a more inconvenient time for Lindblad as Red Bull are currently in the midst of deciding whether or not the Briton gets his shot in F1 come next year, a subject we touched on earlier on in the weekend in conversation with GPblog.
In an exclusive interview with this website was also able to report that Dunne himself was on Red Bull's radar as well.
