The second drivers alongside Max Verstappen in recent years at Red Bull Racing have all had challenging periods at the Austrian team. Guenther Steiner thinks this is because there is no acceptance among the drivers to be the second driver. Verstappen is on another level and it's difficult to let that go, says the Italian.

At the office of GPblog the situation around the second driver of Red Bull was discussed. "Sometimes to admit that somebody's better than you, it's nothing wrong, because that always happens. And if you can live that you are, the number now 210 slower than Max, that's what it is, you know, but if you try to overdrive the car, the result of that one is, You fall back even more, you know, and you have no results. You crash, you just make mistakes." Steiner explained.

According to the former Formula 1 team boss, who became massively popular due to the Netflix series Drive to Survive, as a second driver you better accept your fate that you are lesser than Verstappen. "You know, at some stage you need to put your mind at peace and say, hey, I'm not as fast as Max Verstappen, but I need to get close to him. Look how he's doing it.  Try to learn from him and not try to beat him because you cannot beat him.  If you cannot beat them, join them."
