During MotoGP qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, a cameraman had a narrow escape. In a bizarre accident, a motorbike was launched several meters into the air, forcing the cameraman to duck as it came dangerously close to hitting him.

KTM rider Pedro Acosta slid off the track during his fastest lap and escaped unharmed, but his bike was not so fortunate. The machine was catapulted into the air and flew straight toward a cameraman, who narrowly avoided being struck.

The incident was not shown live during the broadcast, but an alternative camera angle later revealed the dramatic near miss. Watch the footage below.

This weekend, MotoGP, the premier class of motorcycle racing, is making its debut at Hungary’s brand-new Balaton Park circuit. Saturday’s sprint race was won by championship leader Marc Márquez, who also secured pole position on his Ducati.

The eight-time world champion is enjoying a dominant season, collecting nine Grand Prix victories and thirteen sprint wins across fourteen race weekends. He currently leads the standings by a commanding 152 points over his younger brother Álex Márquez, while the gap to his teammate Francesco Bagnaia is even wider at 209 points.
