Another day of F1 news comes to an end, and GPblog brings you the best round up: F1 Today.

Norris breaks 30-year Schumacher record

Lando Norris broke a 30-year-old Formula 1 record by winning the Brazil GP, becoming the first driver to win his first 11 grands prix at 11 different circuits. This surpassed Michael Schumacher, who won his first 10 races at 10 different tracks between 1992 and 1994.

Norris' first F1 victory came at the 2024 Miami GP, followed by wins in the Netherlands, Singapore and Abu Dhabi later in the season. Driving the MCL39 in 2025, he has won seven races, all at different circuits.

Schumacher’s earlier record began with his first F1 win at the 1992 Belgian GP, followed by the 1993 Portuguese GP and eight victories in 1994. His streak ended at the 1995 Brazil GP, where he repeated his win from the previous year.

F1 makes it official: Hamilton can swap number 44 come 2026

The F1 Commission confirmed that drivers will now be allowed to request changes to their racing numbers. Previously, numbers were fixed from the start of the 2014 season, meaning drivers such as Lewis Hamilton could not change from their existing number.

Hamilton has used number 44 since the beginning of his career, originally choosing it because it appeared on the licence plate of his first go-kart. The number has been associated with his Formula 1 career and with his philanthropic work, including the Mission 44 charity he founded in 2021 to support young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds entering motorsport.

Mission 44 partners with Mercedes’ Ignite foundation, has awarded £8 million in education grants, and has funded 42 partners. The number 44 is also used in Hamilton’s PLUS 44 merchandise brand.
