That's Saturday done and George Russell will line up on pole with Max Verstappen beside him. Will the Dutchman's potential race ban play any sort of a role in the Canadian Grand Prix? This is GPblog's round-up of the best stories of the day: F1 Today. Max Verstappen will start from P2 at the Canadian Grand Prix, alongside George Russell , with whom he clashed at the Spanish GP, which got him three penalty points on his super license adding to the 8 he already had, putting him on the verge of receiving a race ban. When asked about the situation after qualifying in Montreal, Verstappen admitted to being 'pissed off' by the constant questioning of the implications of the potential race ban that lords over him still.
Speaking to media, Verstappen called them 'childish,' and the whole topic a waste of time, and refused to issue any other responses regarding the status of his superlicense.
George Russell and Oscar Piastri have weighed in on the looming threat of a race ban hanging over Max Verstappen ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. While Verstappen refused to comment. The Mercedes driver doesn’t expect Verstappen to take it easy at the start of the Canadian Grand Prix, adding that no driver aims to crash or collect penalty points.
Piastri also stated he will not change his approach to take any less or any more risks, to try and force a penalty on Verstappen. For the Australian racing at the Canadian Grand Prix will be business as usual.
