Sergio Perez is often disappointed after qualifying in the current Formula 1 season, but today was different. The Mexican is not often in the top three, but during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix it was a different story. The Red Bull driver recorded the third fastest time, finishing just behind Charles Leclerc and behind Max Verstappen.
Commenting on his performance on Friday afternoon, he said: "It was very tricky. We started on the inters and conditions were very tricky initially. We thought it would get a lot drier a lot quicker but it took a long time. Even at the end of Q3 it was quite tricky in a few places like Turns 8 and 9," Perez said.
On Sunday, Perez may start from the front row of the grid because Verstappen has received a grid penalty. During the race, Perez can go hunting for the Monegasque who was just a bit faster in qualifying. "But it's a good result. It's a shame I didn't get Charles but in these conditions it was good that we had a good one," Perez said.
