Welcome to GPBlog's daily Formula 1 news liveblog! Check back periodically throughout the day to catch up on important news for June 6th that you may have missed!
If you missed out on yesterday's F1 news, read on for the top stories from June 5th!
June 5th recap:
Max Verstappen is only one penalty point away from receiving a race ban. If he were to receive another point before the end of June, he will miss a race. This has prompted a search into who could replace him at a race.
Isack Hadjar and
Liam Lawson make the most sense but pose a logistics issue, they would then have to fill their Racing Bulls seat. They also have reserve drivers in the wings such as Ayumu Iwasa or Arvid Lindblad. Iwasa could replace Hadjar or Lawson. Lindbald does not have a super license yet which could also pose an issue unless the
FIA grants
their request.
After an extreme increase in hate/ cyberbullying towards F1 personalities, there has been a joint statement released from the FIA, Formula 1, 2, and 3. The four stand together against online abuse and take a stand.
A few of the people on the receiving end are Yuki Tsunoda, Franco Colapinto, Jack Doohan, Alex Dunne and media personality Lee Mackenzie.
The joint statement posted said:
"On behalf of our Teams and Drivers, F1, F2, F3 and the FIA, through their United Against Online Abuse campaign, firmly condemn abuse and harassment of any form. We'll continue to collectively act upon and report abuse to social media platforms. Whether you are a fan or a part of the motorsport world, we are all driven by passion. At the heart of it all, there are humans. We urge everyone to remain respectful towards the athletes and their teams."
