2024 World Champion Jorge Martin has given a positive update following a solid weekend of testing in Buriram, Thailand, ahead of next weekend's season opener.
Martin, who suffered a series of serious injuries last season, was declared fit ahead of the test despite undergoing surgeries during the winter break.
"It was a very good test. Yesterday I tried several aerodynamic elements and I think I've got it pretty much figured out. [...] Today I was working on electronics and preparing for the race. I’m still losing a couple of tenths, but I definitely feel we’ve taken a step forward compared to last year." Explained Martin after the Sunday morning test session.
"This afternoon I’ll do longer runs, just to get myself in better physical shape. I’m fine with the heat, I’ve worked hard and the Aprilia has too. [...] Today I equaled my personal best on this track. That means the bike is performing very well.”

When looking forward to the season ahead, Martin seemed more positive than we have seen him during his tenure at Aprilia so far:
"With this bike I think I can reach my full potential. I don’t have to do anything different than how I rode in the past. [...] I don’t want to be too optimistic either. I don’t want to make predictions, I’ll just take it race by race. I need races and I’ll get faster each time."
Martin's best result was a P4 finish in Hungary last year. The Spaniard only managed to complete four races last year, but believes he can return to competitive form and full fitness in the near future.
"I feel much better on a single lap now, and I think that can put me in the top seven or eight. I’m not far from 100% physically."
