Fernando Alonso is yet to score points in the 2025 F1 season. The finished in P15 at the Miami Grand Prix, and while finishing inside the Top 8 during the Sprint seemed to be on the cards, that did not materialise either after an incident with Liam Lawson. Lawson received a five-second penalty for causing a collision, after Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin ended up the wall after the two made contact.
While the British team have great ambitions for the upcoming 2026 season when the regulation change comes into effect, the Spanish driver does not expect to be in contention for points this year even if he does a perfect job, unless anything extraordinary happens.
"No, I don't think [it's possible]," he began to GPblog among others. "I nailed Japan, P11. Jeddah was really perfect. Yesterday, as I said, I think we had three or four opportunities in the year where chaos is happening and you have the possibility to score points."
"There were three already this year. One in Australia, I had the mistake and I went on the gravel and off. It happened in China with three or four cars disqualifying and I had the brakes on fire on Lap 1 and yesterday the track was for dry tyres and we kept the intermediates for too long so," he continued.
Therefore, Alonso does not expect to compete for points under regular conditions, even as the Spaniard underlined they are aiming to do better. "We missed three opportunities to score points in my case and I think it's going to be one or two more in the season, let's hope not to miss those ones."
Meanwhile, his teammate, Lance Stroll managed to score in Australia, China and the Sprint in Miami.
