McLaren CEO Zak Brown is not worried about the new technical directive in terms of front wings, that comes into play ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has suggested for some time that McLaren have a significant advantage over rivals partly due to their front wings.
The FIA never determined the parts to be illegal, however, stricter regulations will come into effect ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, as it was agreed ahead of the 2025 season.
Currently, front wings cannot bend more than 15 millimetres, but that will change to 10 millimetres ahead of Barcelona.
It is expected that new rules will lead to some losing performance, and as a result, others might benefit. Red Bull expect that McLaren will lose performance, which can allow them to close their gap to their Woking-based rivals.
Brown takes subtle jab at Red Bull
Zak Brown is however not concerned about the matter. Talking to De Telegraaf, the American said: “It makes no difference to us. We're not at all worried about that rule change.”
“In recent times, there have been a lot of suggestions from others about our car. And none of that was accurate. But the more they are distracted and focus on our car instead of their own performance, the better,” he concluded.
