Alpine on track with 2026 car 'targets' as Gasly prepares for busy winter

Pierre Gasly explained that Alpine is on track to hit all the right targets ahead of the 2026 F1 season.

"I'm very optimistic about the car we are putting together, chassis-wise, engine-wise. I think everything is looking good. We're hitting all our targets."

A complete overhaul of the F1 regulations will come into effect in the 2026 campaign. Cars will have new chassis and power units as well.

Alpine stopped its '25 development early to focus on the next challenge ahead. In the upcoming season, Alpine will also use Mercedes power units.

According to Gasly, Alpine is meeting all the key milestones. He told GPblog among others in Abu Dhabi: "Yes, [the focus] is definitely there and there'll be a lot of work to do over the winter. We already started for next year.

"I'm very optimistic about the car we are putting together, chassis-wise, engine-wise. I think everything is looking good. We're hitting all our targets. So yes, I'm very excited for ‘26," he explained.

Gasly is glad to leave the 2025 car behind

The Frenchman scored 22 points during the 2025 season as Alpine finished tenth in the constructors' standings.

Gasly is happy that the '25 car can now be left behind. He added: "Yes, I told them to keep it out of my sight next year and I'm sure you can put it in a corner in Enstone. It hasn't been the kindest car to drive."
