Franco Colapinto is set to be announced as Pierre Gasly’s teammate at Alpine for next year, as GPblog previously reported. Now, the team has shared a new teaser for the announcement which is expected to take place later today.
This website revealed last Wednesday that Alpine had selected its driver to race alongside Pierre Gasly for the 2026 season.
Now, in a post on social media, the team dropped a clear hint ahead of the Sao Paulo GP, posting the date with the caption "Have you done the maths yet? 🤔"
If you add up the three numbers, the answer is 43 — the number the young Argentine races with in Formula 1. Colapinto also reacted to the post with a set of emojis.
The young Argentine, who originally joined the team as a reserve driver for the 2025 season, replaced Jack Doohan before the Imola Grand Prix.
Since then, he has yet to score a point but has outperformed his teammate Gasly on multiple occasions, who previously signed a long-term deal with the team, and is a good benchmark for Colapinto.
