George Russell finished qualifying for the Austrian GP in P5. Not quite the result he wanted, but certainly the one he expected, same as McLaren's pole position.

For a while the Briton's starting position was in question pending a hearing in front of the Stewards where an unsafe release would be investigated. However, the Canadian Grand Prix winner was sent off with only a reprimand.

Speaking with media after the saturday afternoon session, Russell replied to a question from GPblog: Was McLaren's hegemony in Austria expected?

"Yeah for sure, for sure. Ferrari have been quite a surprise, their performance but we know the conditions suit McLaren."

Witht hotter weather conditions predicted for tomorrow, Mercedes's chances aren't looking any better. The team is struggling with rear tyre overheating, an issue they have been unable to solve since the start of the current regulations.

Speaking about where he expects to finish the race tomorrow, Russell is clear. "Finishing where we start really."
