Ferrari recently introduced a new suspension and floor, with which they want to compete even harder with McLaren and Red Bull. The Scuderia has not yet won a race this year, but has received 'positive results' to become competitive. And that is particularly bad news for Red Bull.
With 460 points, McLaren leads the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, well ahead of the runner-up: Ferrari. With 222 points, they are just ahead of Mercedes with 210 points, followed by Red Bull with 'only' 172 points. Almost all of them were amassed by Max Verstappen.
Yet, it is specifically Verstappen who can be affected by the words of Motorsport Italia, in which they claim that the upgrades of Ferrari are doing their job well. Red Bull, in the meantime, expects little of the upgrades. Why does it matter a lot? Verstappen is third with 165 points, while Leclerc and Hamilton are closing in with 119 and 103 points, respectively.
According to the Italian medium, telemetry shows that the suspension and the floor have a positive impact on the Ferrari car. The package is supposed to yield about a tenth of a second, although that remains to be seen. This is still the telemetry. Riding lower to the ground is not the goal, but to widen the operative window by making the car more stable across variations in the surface, which then results in being able to run the car lower and extracting more overall performance, if they work.
Red Bull is meanwhile more negative about the upgrades. GPBlog previously explained why the upgrades will no longer help Verstappen.
