Former F1 driver David Coulthard has voiced his opinion on Lewis Hamilton's choice to move to Ferrari after 12 years at Mercedes, and he just can't understand it. Lewis Hamilton has been unable to gel well at Ferrari with his results completely off the mark set by teammate Charles Leclerc. Amidst the seven-time world champion's current form, Coulthard admits he does not understand Hamilton's decision.
"I always felt that Lewis had developed a special bond and loyalty with Mercedes," were Coulthard's words to BILD. "Therefore, I was totally confused when I heard about his switch."
"It was a bit like Michael Schumacher's Formula 1 comeback at Mercedes, after he had built up something so great with Ferrari."

No 8th title for Hamilton with Ferrari in 2025?
The Scot doesn't see much chances of Hamilton even winning a Grand Prix at the Scuderia this year. "At the end of the day, it's Lewis' path, his story, his book that he writes. Maybe he'll win a Grand Prix, maybe he'll win a championship - but maybe he won't."
With the gap to Oscar Piastri in the championship standings at 115 points, Hamilton also chases teammate Leclerc, 23 points adrift the Monegasque.
As a result, Coulthard is not expecting an eighth title for Hamilton this season, saying: "No, it doesn’t look like it."
