Damon Hill is, not for the first time, critical of Max Verstappen. This time, the former Formula 1 world champion felt that the Red Bull Racing driver did not perform to the maximum at Spa-Francorchamps.

After a Belgian Grand Prix dominated by McLaren, former F1 champion Hill did speak at length about Max Verstappen, often the topic of conversation for the former world champion, whom by the way did not fare well in his analysis.

Hill's judgment on Verstappen

The few words he did spend on the Red Bull Racing driver were not very positive. Hill thought that Verstappen should have outsmarted Charles Leclerc for third place. "Charles couldn't fight the [McLaren's], he could keep ahead of the Red Bull though."

"And that's a Red Bull with upgrades as well, with Max Verstappen driving at Spa. Yeah, you really would put money on Max getting past him, wouldn't you? So he'd (Leclerc, ed.) done a fantastic job there in the Ferrari. He was able to use that car to keep himself ahead of Max."

The conclusion about Verstappen is therefore: "Yeah, very disappointing, Max Verstappen performance there. You know, we'd expect more, didn't we?", Hill concluded.
