Max Verstappen was in Sardinia during the period between the British and Belgian Grands Prix. Toto Wolff's superyacht was also present, sparking rumours about a possible conversation between the two. At Spa-Francorchamps, the Dutchman initially responded to rumours about a meeting.
Both Verstappen's and Wolff's super yachts were off the coast of Sardinia. Immediately, rumours arose that the two would meet to discuss a contract for 2026. This didn't turn out to be the case. GPblog previously reported that no conversation had taken place between the two.
Verstappen was asked in Belgium if he found it annoying that rumours had arisen. He responded: “Well, I was swimming in the ocean at the time so I don't know, I don't really care about those things. I went on holiday with my friends, my family, and when other people also are there at the same time, yeah, that can happen. More people on the island than just me and Toto and his family. So, yes, if you go to the same island, that can happen.”
Verstappen also confirmed for the first time in Belgium that he is considering his future. However, he stated that the goal has always been to end his career with Red Bull Racing.
