Fernando Alonso appreciates Max Verstappen's passion for racing outside of F1, and the Spaniard does not rule out competing alongside the Dutchman one day.
“I did two years and I will do in the future. I don’t know in what intensity but in the future I will do [some]."- Fernando Alonso
lonso has already tested himself outside F1, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans and competing in the Indy 500 and the Dakar Rally.
“I’m a big fan of motorsport outside Formula 1. I think it’s more pure, more clean, more fun," the Aston Martin driver said.
“I did two years and I will do in the future. I don’t know in what intensity but in the future I will do [some].
“Right now, [while I’m] in Formula 1, I find it difficult to share other projects because you need to dedicate everything in your day and in your life to Formula 1, in my opinion.”
Looking at Verstappen's performance, the Spaniard commented: "He did great, but his talent is beyond question. Obviously I think he wants to try something different from Formula 1 right now or even in the future. The 24-hour races are the pinnacle of endurance racing."
Alonso also admitted he would “love to” team up with Verstappen for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race he considers the most prestigious in that world.
"Endurance racing is a fun part of motorsport where you share the track with different categories with different drivers and you share your car also with other drivers and one day if there is an opportunity for sure we will explore it.”
The weekend before the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen returned to the Nordschleife, when he won his first ever GT3 race at the famous track.
Starting from P3 at the 'Green Hell,' the Dutchman immediately took the lead after the start. After a two-hour shift, he handed the car over to Chris Lulham, who secured the duo's debut victory.
Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, the four-time F1 world champion also talked about when he will return to the German next.
