According to former Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone McLaren's alleged bias for Lando Norris in his fight against Oscar Piastri for the title will yield a fifth consecutive title for Max Verstappen.
That's why he, as runner-up and world championship leader Piastri, takes each other's points away and Max does it again- Bernie Ecclestone.
Since the season started Verstappen renegged on his chances at the Drivers' title, since Red Bull had failed to provide him with a car capable of fighting McLaren.
Now, with the car underneath him, Verstappen has started a charged that though still silent and in the background, it may not take long before it comes to the fore in a mighty championship-worthy roar.
"All signs on the part of McLaren are that Norris should win the title," Ecclestone said to Sport Bild.
The British mogul then outlined the potential horror scenario for McLaren, consequence, Ecclestone feels, of the Norris bias he alleges McLaren has.
"That's why he, as runner-up and world championship leader Piastri, takes each other's points away and Max does it again [win the title,]" Ecclestone concluded.
When asked regarding his title chances, and what the odds of him getting a fifth world title win on the trot were, he said: "50-50." You can read the rest of his statements here.
Fernando Alonso also commented on Verstappen's title hopes. According to the Spanird the reigning world champion will need McLaren's 'help' to take the crown. Red Bull Racing chief advisor Dr. Helmut Marko opined the same as the Spaniard.
