Despite Max Verstappen shutting down the rumours surrounding his immediate future that had dominated the Formula 1 scene in recent months with the confirmation of his staying at Red Bull Racing, Formula 1 'supremo' Bernie Ecclestone has identified one move that could potentially spell the end of the Dutch driver’s career.

The 94-year-old, who spoke in an interview via German outlet Sport.de, urged the four-time world champion against considering a move to join the Scuderia Ferrari team. In the words of the motorsports chief, a move to the Italian outfit ‘would be the end of his career.’

"If he goes to Ferrari, that would be the end of his career. Let's hope that doesn't happen. He can always turn a good team into a winning team."

Max Verstappen has largely endured a difficult 2025 few months with the Red Bull Racing outfit. The 27-year-old has mustered only two race victories through the first 14 races, which largely stirred conversations about his future with the Milton Keynes team.

Earlier during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Max Verstappen put to bed the swirling talks concerning his immediate future. The Dutch driver, who spoke to the media, including GPblog, detailed how he had always had his sights set on Racing for the Red Bull outfit for the upcoming season.

Verstappen also stressed how he felt it was necessary to put to the growing talks which had continued to herald the Formula 1 community. The Hungarian GP marked Verstappen’s 200th race with the team— a journey which kicked off with a victory during the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.
