It's finally time, the summer break is coming to an end and the Dutch Grand Prix is next up. Max Verstappen took the opportunity to look ahead to his home race.
“It’s just an iconic, historic track. The track is challenging because you have a few banked corners, some places are very narrow and there is no run off [areas],” said the four-time world champion in an Instagram post from Verstappen.com.
In addition, the Red Bull Racing driver revealed what makes the race in his home country so special for him. About this, he said: "It is always a fantastic atmosphere, and the fans are incredible so it is a special one for me."
Verstappen is therefore greatly looking forward to returning to Circuit Zandvoort. The four-time world champion has won the race three times in a row since 2021, but lost out to Lando Norris last year. You can read how that race went, here.
Should the Red Bull driver manage to win the upcoming Sunday's race, he would match an F1 legend. It would then be his fourth win on the circuit in the dunes. Jim Clark is currently the F1 driver who has won the most in Zandvoort, so Verstappen can equal the British legend.
This upcoming weekend Formula 1 will be active in Zandvoort. The first practices take place on Friday. Saturday is the time for the third free practice and qualifying. The Grand Prix will eventually be contested on Sunday, August 31st. For a complete overview of the times, you can go here.
