As a former member of the Red Bull Junior Team, Dan Ticktum had the opportunity to work with Christian Horner, who was dismissed as Red Bull Racing’s team principal just over a week ago. Now racing in Formula E, Ticktum has publicly questioned the reasons behind Horner’s departure.
After twenty years at the helm, Christian Horner's time with Red Bull Racing has come to an end. The man who helped shape the team into a dominant force in Formula 1 was ultimately let go by Red Bull GmbH following the British Grand Prix after a period of internal turmoil.
Since his departure, speculation has been rife, with various reports attempting to uncover the exact reasons behind the decision.
Ticktum has been following it all. The driver wasn't very close to Horner during their time together at Red Bull.
But did see Horner as a rather 'propper' character. However, the Briton was under scrutiny in light of a recent scandal that engulfed his persona and reportedly brought turmoil to Red Bull.
"I didn't have a huge amount of interaction with Christian - Always got on relatively well with him. I knew he was slightly sceptical about me as a character, he's very sort of toe the line. I'm probably a little bit more out there than he is," the Brit said to TalkSport.
Ticktum had a closer relationship with Helmut Marko at the time. "Got on very well with Helmut though, interestingly... But no, it's not really my place to comment," Ticktum stated.
The Formula E driver is aware that there are several theories circulating in which Max Verstappen plays a role. "Whether there was an ultimatum between Max and him, or Max has already left, and they want to reshape the team before everything changes, who knows?"
Max Verstappen's Red Bull future is up in the air. However, no team change for the four-time world champion has yet been made official. Stay up to date with the latest news on GPblog now.
