Nigel Mansell heaped praise on Lando Norris after the Brit secured the Drivers’ Championship on home soil.
“There's only 34 world champions ever in the history of Formula One. And that's a very select club and welcome Lando”- Nigel Mansell
Appearing on BBC Breakfast, the former F1 driver spoke warmly of his fellow Brit, fresh off his title-winning season against Max Verstappen and his teammate: “Lando did a fantastic job and enough to climb that last step and is a world champion waking up today. And how fantastic is that.”
When asked how much his life and career will change from now on, Mansell added: “I think every day he'll be having phone calls and opportunities and you can sleep easier because you dream of becoming a world champion and it isn't until you actually achieve it you realize it's an unbelievable dream come true.“
He finally drew a parallel with his career when he became world champion in 1992: “I can remember in Hungary when I crossed the line to become world champion and standing on the top step with Ayrton Senna who won the race, I came second that day and he said it's the most wonderful feeling in the world.

“Until you reach that, you don't really understand what it feels like. And it's a very special private club. And I think since the inception of Formula One, there's only 34 world champions ever in the history of Formula One. And that's a very select club and welcome Lando.”
The newly crowned world champion was seen in several viral social media clips, partying hard at a nightclub with friends to celebrate the achievement of a lifetime.
Norris himself admitted he went all out and partied well into the early hours, but what hadn’t come to light until now is just how much the Brit splurged on the night.
Here’s the reported total he spent to cover the celebrations.
