As always, let’s take a look at the two main headlines from today, Friday, August 1st, after the first two free practice sessions at the Hungaroring wrapped up.
In FP1 the Dutchman barely made it into the top 10, whilst in FP2 his pace did not improve. In fact, it was worse, with the Dutchman accusing problems of balance that made it feel as if he was driving on ice.
It was during the afternoon practice session that Verstappen seemed to find what appeared to be a towel in the cockpit of his RB21.
The Red Bull Racing driver then, having picked it up, threw it out of his car, an incident that the Stewards took note of to investigate until after the session had ended.
The Stewards have issues the final following his breach of article 34.14 c) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.
The Silverstone outfit have announced that the 44-year-old has suffered an injury to his back that saw him miss the first free practice session for the Budapest event.
“In the days following the Belgian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso has been managing a muscular injury in his back."
"As he continues with treatment this morning, he has chosen to sit out of FP1. Felipe Drugovich will drive in FP1 alongside Lance Stroll. A decision will then be made on Fernando’s participation in FP2 and the remainder of the weekend in due course.”
