Max Verstappen welcomed his first child, Lily, ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. On the F1 Nation podcast, Laura Winter compared his growing family to the “dysfunctional odd family” of Formula 1. About Verstappen and
Kelly Piquet having baby Lily, Winter said,
“It's such a lovely story. I think Formula 1 can be divisive, and fans can be divided over loyalties, rivalries, and so on. Everyone can come together and just see the arrival of a healthy baby girl is a really wonderful thing.”'An incredible experience'
While this is Verstappen’s first child, he has been around Piquet’s first daughter, Penelope, since she was one year old.
“Someone becoming a father is, and I know obviously he's already got a very good relationship with P, Kelly's other daughter,” Winter continued, “In becoming a father now to Lily, it's just an amazing story and what an incredible experience for him as well.”
She asked, “In a sense, Formula 1 is this one big dysfunctional odd family, isn't it?"
“This big circus that travels the world together. So it's been really lovely to see everybody congratulate him and be with him on this. It's a wonderful thing.”
