Piero Ferrari has described Scuderia Ferrari’s struggles in 2025 as nothing short of a “punch in the stomach.”
“It’s a blow and a punch in the stomach.”- Piero Ferrari
The 80-year-old son of the Italian racing outfit’s founder, Enzo Ferrari, stated it hurts to see the Prancing Horse struggle in the manner they currently does.
“After a race like that, there’s not much to say. It’s a blow and a punch in the stomach. It hurts to see a Ferrari like this. I console myself by thinking that there’s still one more race, the last of the season, and then we’ll put this championship away,” Ferrari said in an interview with RMC Motori.
The motorsports chief, however, drew a glimmer of hope, reflecting on the team’s history of overcoming adversity.

“In the history of Ferrari, we’ve had ups and downs; it happens in racing. It’s no consolation, but we’ve had worse moments, and we’ve always managed to get back on track. I remember the 1973 and 1975 World Championships after a challenging 1974 season, the crisis of the ’90s, and the triumphs that followed,” he added.
Ferrari continued by describing his team’s struggle as part of racing, highlighting how things can sometimes work, and sometimes not.
“It’s part of racing, so I’m confident we’ll bounce back. We have some things that didn’t work, but I can guarantee that in Maranello, we also have many other things that do work.”

He concluded with optimism, stating he is certain the team will bounce back to its winning ways.
“The hard part is putting them all together to get the most out of them, and I’m sure we’ll do it. I’m confident in the good things we have at home, and as a fan, I hope we can put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Ferrari will win again; we’re definitely not giving up. I know the excellent people we have at our disposal.”
The Ferrari outfit has had a largely forgettable 2025 campaign. Aside from the Sprint victory of Lewis Hamilton in China and the podium finishes that Charles Leclerc has been able to rack up throughout the campaign, the Italian outfit has found celebrations few and far between.
Last time out at the Qatar Grand Prix, the Ferrari team could only muster four points from a possible 33 during the race weekend in Lusail.
Earlier, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur acknowledged the frustration shown by his drivers following the Qatar Grand Prix.
The French motorsports chief admitted how frustrating it can be when a driver continues to give his all, yet it does not translate into results. Vasseur, however, concluded that the team remains in harmony despite the visible frustration displayed by its drivers.
