Scuderia Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has set his sights on a potential podium finish for the team at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“That we will be the target.”- Fred Vasseur
The French motorsports chief, who spoke to GPblog after his team’s torrid weekend in Qatar, detailed his expectations of a possible podium finish at the Yas Marina Circuit.
“That we will be the target. Nobody changes the car, and compared to Sao Paulo, it means that if we have a good weekend in terms of preparation, we can be back on the podium,” Vasseur said.
The Ferrari team, which had endured a challenging campaign in 2025, witnessed another instalment of such challenges last time out at the Qatar Grand Prix, with Charles Leclerc’s eighth-place finish during the Sunday race being the only points the Maranello-based outfit recorded over the weekend.

Abu Dhabi, however, has proven to be a good hunting ground for Ferrari, and during the 2024 edition of the race, the team claimed a double podium finish – second and third place with then-drivers Carlos Sainz and Leclerc.
Amid the challenging season the Ferrari outfit has continued to experience, vice chairman and son of founder Enzo Ferrari, Piero Ferrari, offered a tough assessment of the team’s 2025 campaign.
The Italian motorsports chief compared the season Ferrari is experiencing to “a punch in the stomach.” The 80-year-old, however, concluded by expressing optimism that the Prancing Horse will return to its glory days soon.
