Ferrari, at least with Lewis Hamilton showed promising pace during FP1 at Imola. However, the Scuderia made a change on Charles Leclerc's car that put them in breach of the technical regulations. Is their weekend in jeopardy? For Hamilton the times seemed to flow easier and quicker than Ferrari, whereas Leclerc struggled more to come to terms with what seemed an unruly SF-25, with the Monegasque having many off's at different parts of the track like Turns 13 and 15 for instance. In the end,
whilst Hamilton scored a P5 all Leclerc could achieve was a P12.Ferrari in breach of technical regulations at Imola
With FP2 about to get underway FIA's technical delegate Jo Bauer has dennounced Ferrari's adjustment of Leclerc's tyre pressures during FP1 for a used set of tyres. This is against the protocols prescribed in the current regulations.
Bauer's report read: "During free practice session 1, it was noticed that the LHS and RHS front tyre pressure of Set 16602 on Car 16 was altered after a run, whilst the car was stationary in the garage and before going out for another run using the same set."
"This adjustment was not carried out in accordance with the procedures set out in TD003Q 2. g. ii.." It is worthy of note that the penalty for this offense should not be a sporting one.
