Ferrari has supported the
FIA's decision to review Formula One's race management and with it the position of
Michael Masi. The
FIA announced simultaneously with the launch of
Ferrari's F1-75 that Masi should leave as race director.
In recent weeks, several Formula One drivers expressed their support for Masi. For example,
Lando Norris,
Daniel Ricciardo and
Sergio Perez expressed their opinion that the Australian should stay.
Carlos Sainz also said after Ferrari's car launch that he hopes Masi is allowed to hold a high position within the FIA.
Ferrari supported FIA decision on Masi
However, the teams have agreed with the FIA that Masi's position as race director has become untenable. Ferrari is one of the teams that supported the revision of the race management, as team boss
Mattia Binotto explains to
Motorsport.com.
The Italian says the fact that the investigation in Abu Dhabi took so long showed how complicated the situation was for the FIA. He, therefore, thinks it is important to apply lessons learned, and Ferrari will therefore support the proposed changes.
