Pierre Gasly has given a rather blunt verdict on the F1 2026 cars. In short: "I literally don't care."

Next year Formula One is set to introduce new regulations that will have a holistic impact on the car, since its effects will impact the aerodynamics, the chassis, the fuel, the tyres and the power units as well.

These changes have brought up criticism from drivers such as Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen, Lance Stroll and Charles Leclerc for instance. While others such as world champions Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso opted for driving it on track before issuing any type of verdict.

Gasly, however, is of a different take than that of his colleagues.

He said to GPblog: "I literally don't care about whether I like it or not. I just want to be at the front of the grid.

"For me, I think if you ask me, it's probably not going to be as enjoyable as the car we're driving now, but [I'm] not enjoying being in P17 every weekend. So if it is what it is and it's going to be the same for everyone, I just care about the performance and being at the front of the grid.

Should Alpine deliver, Gasly states he is ready to challenge for the top prizes in F1.

He continued: "So, yeah, that's what I work for. I know mentally I'm ready for it and I've been working out so far for all the years I've been in Formula one to be in a position like that.

"I'm definitely trying to make the best of it. And with the team working really hard because it's probably the best opportunity I've had as a driver, but also for the team over the last couple of years to really make that step to the front of the grid," concluded Gasly.
