Charles Leclerc finished in P4 during the Sprint Qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps, a long way ahead of Lewis Hamilton's P18. The Monegasque sheds light on the effectiveness of the upgrades Ferrari brought to Belgium.
Albeit it was a P4, Leclerc cant' help but look at the timing sheets and notice the chasm that separates him from Oscar Piastri.
"I felt the changes but today the gap was huge. I'm sure we did a step forward but for some reason the McLaren seems to be even faster than usual around this track!"
"So it's a bit disappointing on that side of things but what we are searching for with the upgrades, we had it," added the Monegasque, clearly stating that the Scuderia's development of the SF-25 was indeed effective.
"But it's a shame to have such a difficult qualifying session, especially in terms of gaps," he lamented.
His teammate Lewis Hamilton was caught out in SQ1 twice, which caused his early elimination from the session, in which he ultimately ended in P18. Hamilton's reaction to the upgrades, differed massively from Leclerc's.
"Yeah, the feeling was pretty good. I'm happy the car feels better but even though the car feels pretty good, we are still seven tenths off," the Monegasque said.
"A lot of work that needs to be done. We just need to add grip to the car that we don't seem to have for now."
