Similarly to Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton was in favour of going racing earlier at Spa during the Belgian Grand Prix. Despite this, he understands why the decision to delay was taken.
The Briton said over the team radio, he kept shouting it's ready to go, but despite that, more and more laps were completed behind the Safety Car, also leading to a rolling start.
Hamilton explained after the session that the delay was connected to the British Grand Prix. "I think it was just a reaction to Silverstone. I think Silverstone was mega. And it just happens," he began to GPblog among others in the Ardennes.
"I think we sat down and spoke about it, and most of the drivers said in the last race we shouldn't have restarted. So I think they just focused on visibility. As soon as someone up ahead said visibility was really bad, which wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as the last race and I think they just waited just to be just to be sure."
Therefore, he also added: "I think they still did a good job."
Still, Hamilton is on the same page as Verstappen, explaining that he missed having a classic wet Grand Prix. "Of course we did miss some of the extreme wet racing, which I think would have been nice."
"But for some reason the spray here is really, or this year at least, it's like going through fog. I don't know what we're going to do to try and fix it," he concluded.
Hamilton eventually crossed the finish line in P7, after starting originally from the pit lane, but from P17 during the rolling start.
