Hamilton: 'Vasseur is exactly the same as he was 20 years ago'

Team principal Frederic Vasseur hasn’t changed over the years, Lewis Hamilton explained with a smile.

"Fred still wears the same clothes, and he's exactly the same as he was."

Before joining Ferrari for the 2025 season, the British driver had already worked with the Frenchman in the junior categories. The duo could also celebrate Hamilton's GP2 title together back in 2006.

When asked whether Vasseur has changed anything over the past two decades, Hamilton said: "Not Fred, no.

"Fred still wears the same clothes, and he's exactly the same as he was. Everything's exactly the same generally, I would say," the driver continued with a smile.

"I mean I always admired him heavily when I was in the lower categories. Just the way he worked with the team, he's a straight shooter, clearly a massive competitor.

"I always admired, like, I came from a couple of different teams that they're focused on where they spent their money was on other areas and he was all about aerodynamics and performance and that's what he's all about today.

"He's just all about car performance, which I think is the strength of his," the seven-time champion concluded.

With six weekends to go in the current season, Ferrari is third in the constructors' standings, trailing Mercedes by 27 points.

The Scuderia has yet to win a Grand Prix this year. Leclerc’s best result was a second-place finish in Monaco, while Hamilton is still without a podium. On the other hand, the Briton won the team's first-ever Sprint in Shanghai.
