Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has reflected on Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025, highlighting both the scale of the challenge and the seven-time world champion’s personal qualities.

“Ferrari is the team with the greatest heritage in the world, and for Lewis, driving for them is a great honor but also a challenge,” Wolff told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Briton joined the Scuderia this season after more than a decade at Mercedes, with the partnership yet to deliver consistent front-running results.

Wolff 'saves' Hamilton's self-punishing remarks

Wolff praised Hamilton’s work ethic and character, noting his ability to take ownership in difficult moments.

“He puts his heart into everything he does and is very sincere: when he goes through difficult times, he takes responsibility.

"It’s a trait of the greats: if they know they haven’t been up to par, they don’t blame the team but look within.”

The Austrian remains confident in Hamilton’s ability to rebound: “Once this moment has passed, he’ll come back with the same motivation as always.”
