Happy Birthday Fernando Alonso!

Fernando Alonso will celebrate, or attempt to celebrate, his birthday in the cockpit of the McLaren today. The Spaniard turns 37 as his experience continues to grow.

The two-time world champion is involved in arguably the story of the season. Is he going to move away from Formula 1 to pursue a triple crown dream? Earlier this season, Alonso won the Le Mans race in his first attempt leaving just the Indy500.

With his frustrations growing at McLaren, and a contract coming to a close it perhaps looks inevitable as time begins to run out on his career.

A possible return to Ferrari is on just a few cards. Meanwhile, McLaren have reshuffled their personnel, and it includes many of Alonso's old friends.

Basically, we don't know.

Alonso starts the race today in 11th and on a track which doesn't demand as much power, the McLaren should be in line for some decent points. Will Fernando have a happy birthday? Vote in our poll!
