Two days after the forced departure of Christian Horner as team principal of Red Bull Racing, the president of Honda has responded. In doing so, he also had a message for Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda.

Honda is in its final season as an engine supplier for Red Bull before switching to Aston Martin. Over the past few years, the Japanese have built a relationship with Horner. In a short message, Koji Watanabe, the president of Honda Racing, reflects on the collaboration.

"We are grateful to Christian for his cooperation from the beginning of our partnership, to this day", said Watanabe.

Honda has confidence in Mekies

At Red Bull Racing, the Japanese will now be in contact with Laurent Mekies, who filled the same role at Racing Bulls. That team also will also run Honda power units for the last time this season. "We have a great relationship with our new team principal Laurent, since he joined Racing Bulls."

Finally, in his brief message, Watanabe seemed to address the drivers, including Max Verstappen. "Honda does not change its intention to push to the limits with Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls in the upcoming twelve races."
