Speaking to the likes of GPblog Verstappen assessed how the 2026 F1 season will look like. "Yeah, I think no one really knows for next year where they will be at."

"And for us this year, I think realistically it's going to be very difficult of course to fight McLaren. I think it's already difficult enough of course to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes."

However, his current campaign my play a decisive role next year. "But I think there's still a lot of opportunity to learn more about the car and the behavior of the car."

"Because still, of course I know that the cars will be different next year, [but] there are still things that you can take out of this year and also implement for the next year."

Max Verstappen drives ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Verstappen doesn't put F1 2025 season in the bin

The Dutchman explained that Red Bull is currently building the car for next year, but there's still a key area where the Austrian team still has homework to do on.

"I mean, there is still a lot to learn also this year. Now naturally, of course, the car has to be built for next year. Of course that is fully underway."

"But [on] the engineering side of things there is still a lot that we can learn this year," The Dutchman aded.

"So you cannot just say ‘Ok, we are not winning this year, the championship, so we just bin it off completely.'"

"Like I said before, there are always things that you can take from this year to next year," Verstappen concluded.
