Scoring points in Formula 1 is always worth celebrating—unless you are Isack Hadjar. The Racing Bulls driver, who has continued to impress in his debut season, has explained why he often opts for a more muted approach to celebrating after scoring points for his team.
The Frenchman, who made headlines for his crash on the formation lap at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, stressed that he is often left with the feeling of “there is more left on the table” even after scoring points for Red Bull’s sister team.
Speaking to the media, including GPblog, during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Hadjar explained:
“It's just that when I have a very good result and I know there was more left on the table and I could have done a better job, I tend to be self-critical a lot.
"I've been told by my entourage, you know, I need to cheer up a bit more because the mechanics, the engineers, they need to, they need to hear positive things.
"But I can tell you when I do the job and I'm happy with myself, if there's someone who celebrates and that goes crazy, it's me.”
Since his debut at the Australian Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar has recorded points in six of the 14 races held so far, with his best race finish being a sixth place at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hadjar also expressed his delight with the highs he has experienced throughout his rookie Formula 1 campaign.
The 20-year-old driver detailed how grateful he was for how things have come together with the Faenza-based team.
“But at the same time, I'm also grateful for the highs we had, because everything aligned.
"We had very good weekends on tracks I liked as well. So I know potentially I should have had more points than I have, but it's the same for everyone.
"So I'm not very very pissed about that. Yeah, I mean it's not up to me to decide, obviously. You've done what you've done…”
Indeed, the 2025 campaign has unfolded in a relatively positive manner for Hadjar. Currently on 20 points, he is among the best-performing rookies of the season so far.
