Lewis Hamilton’s underwhelming start at the Scuderia Ferrari outfit reached a new low as he equalled an unwanted record after his outing at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The 40-year-old could only muster a 12th-place finish at the Hungaroring event.

The British driver who had joined the Marenello-based outfit with a flurry of hopes and promise has so far witnessed his season unfold in a manner far from what he would have envisioned. Specifically, the seven-time world champion has found relative success far and few, and he would experience no reprieve at the Hungarian Grand Prix, even equalling an unwanted record.

Lewis Hamilton equals unwanted Ferrari record

With his outing at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has equalled the record for the second most races before a podium for the Ferrari team — 14. The British driver is now tied with former Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve, who also waited for the same period to achieve his maiden podium.

Hamilton is unfortunately now within touching distance of the ultimate record for the longest wait without a podium for the prancing horse team — 19, an unsavoury feat held by former French driver Didier Pironi. So far, his best result with the Ferrari team remains the fourth-place finishes he achieved at the Austrian Grand Prix and at his home race in Silverstone.
