Lewis Hamilton’s first season in Ferrari red has been anything but straightforward. Still without podiums, and victories, the seven-time world champion’s transition from Mercedes has been marked by frustration on track and headlines off it.

It comes during a turbulent period for Hamilton beyond the circuit. Just days before Ferrari confirmed Vasseur’s contract extension, Hamilton’s celebrity-backed vegan burger chain, Neat Burger, entered liquidation after years of financial trouble.

The British driver, who had invested heavily in the brand alongside names like Leonardo DiCaprio, saw its last UK restaurant close in April. The latest business blow adds to the pressure of a season where results in red have yet to materialise.

Hamilton's Ferrari future boosted

In the midst of these struggles, Ferrari have given their F1 project the stability that could shape Hamilton’s immediate future: Team principal Frédéric Vasseur has revealed Ferrari’s goals for the remainder of the 2025 season and the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Ferrari have confirmed that the Frenchman will indeed remain as team principal, ending weeks of speculation and press rumours.

“It’s a good step into the process,” Vasseur told the official F1 website.

“We had a couple of discussions and there were some rumours in the press the last couple of weeks.

"It’s not easy for the stability of the team and for the mood of the team but now this is behind us. It’s important."

The Frenchman is now focused on the immediate battle.

“We have to be ready for the last part of the season. We are fighting with Mercedes and Red Bull for P2 and we want to win some races until the end.”

Ferrari aligned for 2026 push and aims for the title

Looking further ahead, Vasseur acknowledged the impact of the 2026 regulations overhaul.

“The 2026 project is a huge challenge that we have to be all fully aligned and all together to manage it.

"We want to be very agile in F1, but the reality is that we have a lot of inertia.”

“Everybody in the company is aligned on this project and pushing in the same direction, and this is probably the best feeling when you have a goal and that everybody is convinced that we can achieve it, we can go for it and that we are all pushing in the same direction.

“It’s not a secret that Ferrari want to win again, but we have a target and the goal is very, very clear.

"We’ll put everything to achieve it. It’s enough as a target that we all want to win the championship.”

For Hamilton, Vasseur’s contract renewal provides not just stability, but also the assurance that Ferrari’s long-term ambitions remain intact.
