Footage has emerged of the aftermath of a brawl that broke out between fans on the stands as the race was still ongoing.
On Sunday, Formula One fans were treated to a remarkably exciting race, with lots of daring overtakes, on track fighting and edgy onboard radio communications.
Nevertheless the race weekend at the Automodromo Hermanos Rodriguez also saw instances of violence and agression as fans failed to keep the peace on the stands.
On Saturday images of a post-qualifying fight went viral on social media showing a Red Bull and a Ferrari fan trading punches.
However, on Sunday, as cars were battling each other for track position, another brawl erupted between fans, although this time witch much greater consequences.
In the video posted on social media two fans, a man wearing a black shirt and another dressed in white, can be seen trading many blows, with the man in the white shirt eventually toppling down to ground at the mercy of the former.
From the images, which can be seen below, it would appear as the latter came off worst, as his white shirt was stained with copius amounts of blood.
Bystanders took matters into their own hands, breaking up the fight between both men and calling out for both of them to be extricated from the track shouting: "Fuera! Fuera!," (Out!, Out!).
A fan wearing a Mercedes shirt can be spotted effectlively ending the brawl, after which, officers in charge of security stepped in to restore the peace on the stands.
You can watch the video below.
Both fans were then extricated from the stands, as can be seen in the video below.
After producing one of McLaren's most dominant wins of the season, clinching pole and driving to the chequered flag with a gap of over 30 seconds ahead of second-placed Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris was treated to a rather unpleasent podium celebration as fans jeered at the McLaren driver.
Although the reason as to why the british driver was booed to such an extent remains unknown, GPblog has delved into the potential causes behind the incident, which admittedly was dealt with humour by the new championship leader.
