Lando Norris believes the new regulations will create new challenges for drivers, rather than turning Formula 1 into an engineer-driven series.
"I think you're still having to understand how to drive the car in the fastest way. It's just as an added complication."- Lando Norris
The defending world champion highlighted that it will be more difficult to go quick with the new Formula 1 cars while also managing battery usage effectively.
Speaking to GPblog among others, Norris explained: "It's going to change. There's going to be some tracks where you're still going to be flat out.
"There's going to be some longer tracks when you go to Baku, Spa, Silverstone, which might be more towards that direction. You're still lifting for one second, and you're still trying to brake as late as you can."
According to the world champion, the drivers will now have a harder task at hand to figure out the quickest way.
He continued: "You're still having to figure out how to be on the limit of the car as much as possible.

"I think you're still having to understand how to drive the car in the fastest way. It's just as an added complication. Instead of before, just no matter what you do, you're trying to be flat as early as possible, all those things.
"Now, sometimes it's not as good to be flat early and stuff like that."
Therefore, similarly to George Russell, the McLaren driver does not believe the series will turn into a championship where drivers will have a reduced role.
Norris added: "So there's certainly an added element of engineering involved, but it's not just engineering-based. It's still the driver that has to do all of these inputs and make these decisions. It just makes our lives a little bit harder.
"But yes, they pay pretty good, so I can't complain that I have to do a few more things that any of us can," Norris commented jokingly.
"It'll make it trickier, and you can make more mistakes and get things wrong more often, but that's the challenge of the real system."
