Lando Norris sat down with David Coulthard and, among other topics, discussed Max Verstappen, admitting that he sometimes wishes he could emulate the Dutchman’s character.

In an interview with Viaplay, Coulthard asked Norris how he stays true to himself in Formula 1, and the Brit mentioned the reigning world champion in his response: ''It's not like my way is definitely right.''

''I admire characteristics and mentalities of other drivers, such as Max, where it really is that kind of 'FU' attitude. Sometimes I wish I was more like that. I really do. And Max is probably the most contrast of me in some ways.''

Norris about Verstappen and Hamilton compared to himself

Norris is frequently criticized for his mental aspect: ''Only if I really give in to you, or media, or anyone questioning a lot and saying it is a weakness, because it is a weakness.''

''Lewis wasn't like that, Max, four-time world champion is not like that. Senna, Prost, whoever you want to say, but I guess what I'd be most proud of is if I can do it and just do it my way.''

Despite everything, Norris intends to stay true to himself and his character: ''You don't need to be a d***head. You don't need to have that kind of attitude. I know I want to do it my way.''

During the Zandvoort Grand Prix, Norris was forced to retire unexpectedly. Running in second place, smoke suddenly appeared from his cockpit, forcing him to stop the car. Once out, Dutch fans cheered him on, offering some comfort after the setback.
