Oscar Piastri was able to receive a prize prior to the race weekend in Imola
on Italian soil. The McLaren driver
received the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy: a trophy awarded annually
to an individual or a team in Formula 1 for their special
achievements. Max Verstappen, for example, won this prize in 2016 for his
2015 season performance. After Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo, Piastri is
the third Australian to receive the award. Nicole Piastri, Oscar's
mother, reacted proudly via X.
The Formula 1 driver himself was certainly happy with the
prize he received prior to the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix race weekend in Imola. “Honoured to receive the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy. Grazie a tutti!” the driver wrote on X, thanking everyone. His mother's reaction stood out with thousands of likes.
Nicole Piastri gave her son practical, yet loving advice.
Advice from mother Piastri to her son
“Perhaps it's time to order another trophy cabinet, Osc...,” she wrote in response to the photos Oscar posted on his
X-account. Nicole Piastri has become a true internet personality within the Formula 1 world, especially thanks to her posts
on X. Recently, she gave her candid opinion when Oscar was
battling
Max Verstappen on the track. At that time, she wished her son had been more
careful.
“That was really terrifying. But this is what he does and
what he continues to do,” she said then.
The award Piastri received in Italy was won last year
by George Russell, and the year before that by Lando Norris. Teams
can also receive this distinction. In 2017, Ferrari won the award,
and two years before that Mercedes was able to accept the trophy.
